With an unwavering drive to see the Francophone Association reach the full potential of its mandate in the cultural, social, and economic sectors, Nicole continues to implement her ideas and spearhead special projects. Within the first year of her start at the AFN, the Maple Sugar Festival du Sucre d’Érable was born and has since become one of Western Canada’s largest bilingual events. Under Nicole’s leadership, the AFN has recently established both economic and cultural exchanges between Nanaimo and the Québec Maple Region, which has led to positive economic outcomes for both areas. Nicole’s enthusiasm, savvy business-sense, and visionary talents have brought cultural, social and economic endorsements to the AFN and the Maple Sugar Festival du Sucre d’Érable, as well as national attention to the City of Nanaimo. In addition to working to achieve community-focussed goals, Nicole is a member of the provincial Olympics francophone ad hoc committee that is working closely with VANOC and other agencies to create Francophone legacies for British Columbians. This ad hoc committee has worked to successfully achieve a partnership between the francophone community and Vancouver 2010 (please see press release).
