First, Second, and Fourth from Torino
Hi, Everyone
Don't tell me that I didn't warn you about all the medals! One of each color
is a great program booster! Mellissa Hollingsworth-Richards won a bronze medal
on February 15th, and two last night.
I'm sure that you have heard by now, but we almost swept the podium last
night. What a night!
It was 2:30am before we could even think of closing our eyes. The adrenaline
was so high -- while we still had to deal with doping control and a CBC interview,
then dinner (at midnight) consisting of pizza and ice cream for all the staff
and athletes!
This afternoon, we are off to Turin for the medal ceremony and a visit to
Canada House, but we will not get close to the podium. We will actually be
in a separate piazza where there is a big jumbotron. There are only so many
tickets.
Canada House will host a big party afterward. This will be followed by a
two-hour drive back to the village. All of the athletes will be there and
it should be a lot of fun! For the staff, it will be neat to be able to celebrate
the years of work spent helping the athletes achieve their goals. And very
cool when the athlete puts it together on the day!
I really hope you are all well. I can tell you that we are fliying high as
kites right now!
Yvonne
